On The Edge: Week Three

Hello week three! We’re a little more than halfway through our time here, and it seems to be flying. This week we started Bible Bootcamp and began our second block of workshops This year students were able to choose from nine workshops: Gymistry, Creative Writing, Baking, I am Valued, 3D Modeling, Social Media Basics, Self Defense, Missions and Evangelism, and Life Skills. Workshops are split into two blocks of three classes each so each student has a chance to go to two different workshops.

On July 20 the students will have the opportunity to share about what they learned in their workshop. Bible Bootcamp is three weeks of classes where we partner with Student Venture. This gives our Edge students an opportunity to meet other students from the community while they learn about the Doctrine of Theology, Bible Interpretation, Science/Philosophy and the Bible, Christian Heritage, Fruits of the Spirit, Prayer, Evangelism, and many other topics.

During this week’s Koinonia we were blessed to hear from Carlo Victa, who challenged us to love others, but love them without compromise. He opened his message with a quote from James Merritt “The people we cross the street to avoid are the people Jesus crossed the street to meet.” Thursday we had the much anticipated lip sync battle, which was Disney themed. Each dorm performed a song selected from a Disney movie by the staff. All of the dorms did an amazing job, and the winner of the swag bag movie pack was room 308. They performed “I just can’t wait to be king” from the Lion King.

Banquet was banq-lit! Banquet is a time for us to have fellowship with each other and is typically held at the end of Edge. This year we held it just before everyone left for their respective mission trips. We enjoyed amazing food, fellowship, fireworks, and a crazy dance party. Many thanks to our Edge event coordinators, Royce and Krista Rull for putting on such a great night!
