History of Murrieta

It’s Friday, and that means more facts about our historical Murrieta Hot Springs!

Two minor springs, Cripple Creek and Radium Springs, were located near the Tulle Swamp, where the lake is now. Radium Spring was diverted into the Cripple Creek bathhouse where people could sit and soak their feet. A third minor spring, Kidney Spring, was about ¾ of a mile around the northwest side of the hill. The spring was enclosed in a concrete basin near Warm Springs Creek. The Tulle Swamp was the original site for collecting mud for the mud baths promoted by the resort. Next to the hot springs is the famous Roman Spa. The spa dates back to the time the Alive Polarity group owned the resort (1960’s) and they used photographs of it in their advertising. It is fed by natural hot springs and the water is chlorinated.
