Historical Fact Friday is back with a few more tidbits about Murrieta Hot Springs!

The Conference Center Administration Building was constructed in 1963 as the Administration Building with an upstairs dining hall and downstairs coffee shop. Previously, there were horseshoes, badminton, and croquet courts there.

The location for the original Administration Building and Dining Hall was the grassy area in front of Stone Lodge. The bus stopped there to deliver guests to the resort. Many came by train or bus. The buses were called “stages” and the nearest train station was in Murrieta near the old grain elevator near Kalmia and Clay Streets on the west side of Interstate 15.

The office was in the front of the building where guests checked in and received mail and could buy newspapers and miscellaneous items. The dining room was behind the office. Guests were called to meals with a large school bell. The kitchen was behind the dining room, while a soda fountain and storeroom were in the basement. There was also snack shop was called The Sub.
